The Newfoundland Boxer mix is a hybrid of two famous yet powerful dog breeds, Newfoundland and Boxer dog. Both dogs are exquisite in their way. The boxer dog was originated from Germany whereas, Newfoundland, as the name refers, was founded in Canada.
Newfoundland is a large water-loving dog, whose initial purpose was pulling nets for fishermen or hauling wood from the forest. The quite hardworking dog can work on both water and land.
On the other hand, the purpose of the Boxer dog was to help butchers and to control the cattle in the slaughterhouse but initially, they were used as bull-baiting dogs.

The Newfoundland and boxer mix, is a large strong-boned canine, with powerful limbs and a muscular body. They have a square-shaped broad head with brown eyes on it. The muzzle is either broad or deep whereas, the ears are usually short but floppy.
The toes can be arched, or they can have webbed feet. The coat color is commonly white and black with markings, but the possible ones can be grey, white, black, fawn, or brindle. The coat is furry but is medium in size.
Maintaining it regularly is important to prevent the coat from matting. The dog’s size ranges from 25-30 inches in height whereas, it weighs from 80 to 120 pounds on average.
Newfoundland and boxer mix personality:
Newfoundland and boxer mix puppies are affectionate, friendly, loving, and willing to please. They love to be around the family members also, are playful. Hence, they like to play with children and other pets as well.
The dog often howls, but they do not act weird in front of strangers. They can stay indoors, but it is important to take the dog to the yard for some physical activity so that, it may stay fit.
But early socialization and proper training are important to get the desired personality. Training this dog is not a challenging task at all, as none of the parent breeds is independent.
Boxer Newfoundland mix Health Concerns:
The Newfie mixes are more likely to have a low risk of getting diseases. But in the case of this Newfoundland mix breed, some diseases are common in the parent breeds including bloating, hyperthyroidism, hip dysplasia, and cancer.
Hence, there are chances that the Newfoundland cross Boxer Dog might get these diseases. Healthy, hygienic, and quality food in an adequate amount is quite important for the health of this dog.
Boxer Newfie mix life span:
A Newfoundland dog usually lives anywhere between 8 to 10 years whereas, the average lifespan of a Boxer dog is 10 to 12 years. According to the lifespan of both parent breeds, the average life span of a Boxer Newfoundland dog mix is 8 to 12 years.
